The energy of giving and receiving will be recognized by many this Thanksgiving Holiday.

The Universe recognizes the energy when you are grateful for what you have received. The vibration of your energy lets the Universe know if you are truly grateful.

Have you ever heard the saying “You get what you give”? This short saying is true. When you do nice things for others for unselfish reasons, the Universe will reward you ten- fold. On the opposite side of the spectrum, I have witnessed selfish people who are takers pay for not knowing how the Universe works. God our Creator rewards or punishes good and evil respectively. You can call it karmic energy, if you will. There are many lessons to learn in this lifetime. Learning to be grateful is one of them. Being appreciative for your good health and well-being creates good karmic energy.

It wasn’t until I was married, with my own children, that I realized how much it costs to live comfortably. This realization was a rude awakening for me, growing up as I did in my middle-class family. I believe that you learn to appreci- ate things and are thankful for what you have only when you go without. You learn to be grateful when you have to struggle to purchase what you want and need on your own. The Universe is able to pick up on the energy when you are thankful for what you have. Our Creator set it up as a self-activating reward system for doing the right thing. Isn’t that perfect?

Folks in our society have become takers rather than givers. Why has this happened? Have we become a selfish society? I need to let everyone know that there is a certain feeling that comes over you when you give unselfishly. It’s a feeling of joy that you experience only when you have done a good deed for another human being. There are pleasure endorphins that are released into your body when you give freely to others. What I have discovered is that the more we give, the happier we become. What a concept! The energy is flowing as it was intended. It’s amazing what Spirit can do. Giving creates more giving. Now everyone who reads this knows how to change their lives for the better! Just give more to others, and be grateful for what you have. Often times we forget to be thankful.

Our Creator developed this concept so that we would feel good about giving and continue to do so more often. Learning to give back and learning to be grateful take work. Think of the famous Christmas story of Ebenezer Scrooge and what he had to go through to learn to give. We have all encountered someone who has a little Scrooge in them. They simply have not learned the lesson yet.

A great way to remember to be thankful is to place a chalkboard in your home or office. Put it in a space that you see often. At the top of the board write, “I am thankful for       ,” then write down whatever you are thankful for that day; write something new each day. This exercise will remind you of how blessed you are. You can do a similar exercise by writing in a journal daily. Keep the journal by your bedside to reflect on the many blessings in your life as they happen!

You’ll Catch More Flies with Honey Than with Vinegar

As I witness the behavior of people in the world today I am reminded of Grandma’s old wise sayings; “You’ll catch more flies with honey than with vinegar” is one that sticks out. She was constantly instilling in her grandkids the importance of being kind to other people. She let us know that you get back what you give and to be sweet to others if you want them to be sweet to you. Somehow these important words of wisdom that many of us grew up hearing have been forgotten. These old fashion saying are in need of a resurrection!

As of late, I see little kindness and compassion for each other occurring. This behavior is sad to witness. Growing up many of us were fortunate to have Parents and Grandparents in our lives to teach us many important life lessons. Lessons that stay with us for the rest of our lives and are passed down to your kids and grandkids.

But what about all those who did not grow up learning about respect and honor and integrity from their family? Maybe those of us who know these life lessons can begin to share what we know with others who don’t know. Why not throw out some words of wisdom when you witness bad behavior. We all have a reasonability to help change the entitlement mindset of late.

As a kid, When I was out of line or was a smarty pants my Grandmother would look me straight in the eyes and say,” pretty is as pretty does.”  Reflecting back, I now understand exactly what she was saying to me. Your pretty on the outside when you are pretty on the inside. I have never forgotten her wise words.

Here’s a great old saying, one for us all to follow: “If you can’t say something nice to another person do not say anything at all.” If we all could follow these words of wisdom the world would be a happier place to occupy.

Just for fun I have listed a few fabulous old fashion good sayings that have stood the test of time and can use a revival! Please feel free to use them often.

“Confession is good for the soul”

(It’s healthy to get things out in the open)

“Beggars can’t be choosers”

(Be Grateful for what you have)

“Respect your elders”

(Respect others that are older)

“Don’t judge a book by its cover”

(You don’t know someone else’s story)

“The road to hell is paved with good intentions”

(follow through)

“Always be true to yourself”

(be honest with yourself and others about who you are)

“Don’t spend what you don’t have”

(Live within your means, as being in debt is not pleasant)

” Actions speak louder than words”

“This isn’t my first rodeo!”

How To Manifest what You Desire

Summer has arrived, bringing us warm sunny days to spend any way we choose. This is the time of year when we go outside and enjoy events such as swimming, boating, beaching it, golfing, tennis, baseball and more.  What do you want your summer to be like this year? Where would you like to go? Or would you rather stay at home with your feet propped up and relax?

Often the simpler days of summer are the most unforgettable. Lazy days when you don’t have to get out of bed at any time and can lay there listening to the sounds of the morning. There’s something about sipping a  cold glass of iced tea on a hot summer afternoon with nowhere to be.

Many of us are rushing to our planned summer destination, bigger and better than last year, but maybe we should just stop! Breathe and look and around. When you slow down to a lazy summer pace you begin to capture a glimpse of a time forgotten. A simpler time when kids played with other kids on their street and folks waived at each other as they passed by.

It is true that life is more complicated these days and people aren’t as friendly as they once were, but you can be part of the change in thinking. A new mindset that brings the good and friendly way back into our lives. What if you stayed home this year and celebrated summer in your own neighborhood? Your kids may not think it’s too exciting at first but if you portray the experience as interesting and fun, your loved ones may experience the best summer of their lives! There is so much to do in the summertime in your own neighborhood and so many people to meet. There are many interesting and knowledgeable people in your own neighborhood that would enjoy meeting you. You never know when you may be needed or by chance need a friend.

Here are a few ideas.

Take a walk first thing in thing in the morning, listen to the sounds of the new day, enjoy the morning dew.
Find the local Ice-cream or Frozen Yogurt Shop and patronize it often.
Ride your bike, preferably with a friend.
Don’t heat up the kitchen- Barbecue often!
Sit outside at night with the moon and the stars.
Take in a matinée at the local theatre.
Find your community pool and swim!
Visit your local park or favorite spot and have a picnic.
Go to the Drive in Theatre, (if you are lucky enough to have one)
Sit in the lounge chair, hammock or under a tree and read a good book.
Go to your local library and browse for new interesting reads.
Check out your local farmers market for fresh vegetables and fruit.
Create a Vision Board of what you want to achieve in the next six months, Business/Pleasure.
Plant a small garden and watch it grow. (an herb garden in the window)
Eat watermelon often and attend the local county/state fair.

It is not about the destination when you take a summer vacation, it’s about who you are with. The most memorable times in life are often the simpler times spent with family and friends sitting around sharing stories. It doesn’t matter where you are this summer, wherever you end up you can create the best summer ever for you and yours.
